AMS/SMT Group Event: Soundtrack Happy Hour

Greetings!

The AMS Music and Media Study Group and the SMT Film and Multimedia Interest Group are organizing a Virtual Movie Discussion Hangout for Friday, August 11, 2023, at 8:00 PM EST. Our plan with this event is to discuss a movie and its music in a casual, informal setting.

For our first attempt at this endeavor, we are preparing to discuss the Director’s Cut of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (written and directed by Steven Spielberg, score by John Williams).

Attendees can plan to watch the film in advance in preparation for a casual “happy hour” discussing their thoughts about the soundtrack. (Any who are unable to rewatch the film ahead of the meeting are still more than welcome to take part in the discussion if they have thoughts on the soundtrack from a previous viewing.)
